Daniel Negreanu Having Huge 2024

Daniel Negreanu Loses $1.1 Million in the 2022 WSOP cover

When it comes to the live poker scene, few players garner more respect than Daniel Negreanu. He is a Hall of Fame professional poker player, but he has been out to prove that his career is far from over.

This past weekend, Negreanu was able to win his second event of 2024, and it appears as if nothing is going to slow him down moving forward. The most recent win for the poker legend came at the PGT PLO Series event, and it came in an Omaha style contest.

It was not a good 2023 calendar year for Negreanu as he continued to come up short in nearly every tournament that he entered. He decided to enter fewer tournaments in 2024 in an effort to rest a bit, and that decision has been paying off.

His first win of the year came at the PGT Last Chance Series, and it’s clear that he now knows which events to target. Negreanu still has a long way to go to make up for his massive losses in 2023, but he has been at the final table in eight different tournaments this year.

A Massive Win

Not only did Negreanu promise to take more time off between poker tournaments this year, but he also wanted to focus on the biggest events. By winning this Omaha tournament this weekend, Negreanu nearly cashed in with $150,000 after taking down 118 entries.

This was a $5,100 pot limit Omaha game, and there was some fierce action that took place throughout the event, Negreanu has now won over $51 million throughout his poker career, and he is sitting in 7th place in the all-time winnings list.

Negreanu is typically a player that you can find at the end of year tournaments, and that could be the case this year as well. Not only did he score a huge cash prize, but he also racked up 480 Card Player Player of the Year points.

He is now sitting in 16th place in the Player of the Year race, and that could entice him to enter into other contests throughout the year. By being able to win an Omaha style event this weekend, it shows just how versatile that he is in this sport.

Other Big Names

Now that the World Series of Poker is starting to get closer, most of the top players of the world are starting to get the itch to play live poker. Negreanu wasn’t going up against his top rivals in this event, but there were other great players in the field.

This tournament lasted just two days at the PokerGO Tour studios in Las Vegas, and Negreanu had the chip lead for much of the action. Anug Agarwal finished in second place in this event, and he was awarded $91,450 in that spot.

Dylan Wiesman is a player that has been on a roll so far in 2024, but he finished this event in just fifth place.
